THE ECO SCHOOLS PROJECT

ECO SCHOOLS  is a National project designed to encourage children and adults (staff, parents and the local community) to take an active part in issues affecting our environment.
Those issues are as follows:-

Litter and Waste Management
Energy
Water
Transport
Healthy Living
School Grounds

A committee, made up of YR3 and YR4 children, meet regularly to initiate action on these matters and some of their thoughts are included on the children's page of this Website.

SCHOOL JOURNEYS

In June two separate parties, involving Year 3 and Year 4 children from Green, Orange and Red classes, spent three days and two nights at Middle Barn Farm in the Arreton valley. The accommodation was based on separate bedrooms, housing between 4 and 6 children, next to a  kitchen/dining area, with another large indoor area for classroom activities, including a visit from Graham Street, of the Isle Of Wight Bat hospital. Outdoor activities, such as 'Search and Rescue' - a team building exercise - took place around the grounds.
One of the most positive outcomes of School Journeys is the close interaction that arises between children and adults and of all participants working together to make everything run smoothly. To this end all the adults involved were highly complimentary about the children’s contribution towards making the 2005 trips a complete success.
